Accelerating Climate-Smart Green Growth for Sustainable Development in North Central Communities
Eco-Citizen North Central is a climate-smart development initiative created to activate statewide Eco-Citizens to accelerate community-based low-carbon impact investment programs that profit both the people and the planet.
This initiative is designed to deploy real-time intergenerational green growth mechanisms that drive net-zero, climate-positive opportunities through people-centric, market-driven eco-policy impact platforms. The goal is to guarantee the first bankable circular economy and fiscal efficiency strategy for sustainable development in North Central Nigeria.
Eco-Citizen North Central prioritises and amplifies citizen-driven climate action as the most scalable approach to ensuring low-carbon, resource-efficient, and socially inclusive economies.
The programme prioritises the health of the planet and its people, recognising these as interlinked. It highlights the connection between the green economy and the circular economy, encouraging a shift toward reducing natural resource consumption to sustainable levels. An inclusive economy incorporates and embraces modern models of economic development with the objective of creating prosperity within planetary boundaries.
Eco-Citizen North Central focuses on three major aspects of green economy development: environmental responsiveness, resource efficiency, and community and cultural sensitivity.
- Environmental responsiveness involves respecting the intrinsic value of nature and minimizing damage to the ecosystem.
- Resource efficiency involves the use of fewer resources to conserve energy and the environment.
- Community and Cultural Sensitivity involve recognizing and accepting the unique cultural values that each community contributes towards development.
Eco-Citizen North Central is a Green4Ward initiative powered by a Social Action Sustainable Impact Mobility Marketplace Strategy that engages, educates, empowers, and employs over 1.21 million young, resourceful Eco-Citizens across 121 LGAs through Eco-Marshall jobs.
The programme incentivises 12.1 million eco-volunteers, awards 121,000 Eco-nnovation grants, and launches 121 eco-tourism and heritage festivals. It also secures rural energy efficiency solutions through sustainability investment partnerships that promote climate justice, ensure climate finance, and drive ecosystem conservation across North Central.
